The conventional paper method of filing company documents at COMPANIES HOUSE  including dormant and abbreviated accounts will soon be history. Parliament has given COMPANIES HOUSE the power to prescribe, by regulations, that document filing  must be conducted via the electronic medium only. If you check their website you will see that they plan to use these powers. The following extracts clearly emphasise this :

".....It is a question of when, not whether......"

".....Our objective for the next few years is to secure the filing of all accounts electronically and in data format using ‘XBRL’ ....."
".....For those customers who are not yet filing everything that they could file electronically, now is the time to change....."
".....Paper filing will not exist at all in a few years time and should not be anyone’s product of choice in the meantime....."

As from 1st February 2009, accounts late-filing penalties increase substantially. TDF gives you extra time to file those last minute accounts and save  from £150 to £750 or even more.
